Communication is an act of sending information from one person to another. The definition may seem simple but actual process is complex. We communicate to

Process of communication

The process of communication refers to the transition of information from the sender through selected channels to the receiver overcoming barriers that affect that effects its pace. The process of communication is a cyclic one as it begins with the sender and ends with the sender in the form of feedback.

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION

1. Verbal 

Verbal communication plays an important role in effective communication and makes sure that the sender's message reaches the receiver without too many barriers. i.Face to Face.Writteniii.Telephonic

2. Non-Verbal

i)Facial Expressions

A facial expression is one or more motions of the muscles beneath the skin of the face. According to one set of controversial theories, these movements convey the emotional state of an individual to observers. Facial expressions are a form of nonverbal communication.

ii)Paralanguage

Paralanguage, also known as vocalic, is a component of meta-communication that may modify meaning, give nuanced meaning, or convey emotion, by using techniques such as prosody, pitch, volume, intonation, etc. It is sometimes defined as relating to non-phonemic properties only.

iii)Gestures

Gestures are physical actions that communicate with the onlooker. Gestures are made by moving the parts of the body, arms, and heads.

iv)Posture

Posture is how you sit or stand. Your Posture is important and conveys a message. A good, straight Posture indicates leadership and confidence. It tells the audience that you are in control. It conveys the message that you have confidence in your competence.

v)Eye-contact

Maintaining eye contact signals that you are interested in the topic and are paying attention. Eye contact makes you look attentive, interested, and credible. Eye contact is a very effective mode of non-verbal communication. When used effectively eye contact can get the message across without using words.

vi)Appearance


The clothes you wear play an important role in non-verbal communication. Your clothes define your personality. They also send across a message about the person's economic and social status. Dressing demonstrates a person's values, cultural inclination, level of confidence, nationality, and mood.
